At LaTienda.ee, we believe good food should never go to waste. That’s why we’re introducing a special category in our online shop called Shortdated: products that are close to their “best before” date, but still perfectly safe and delicious to enjoy.

Best Before vs. Use By: What’s the Difference?
Many people confuse the terms “best before” and “use by”. In reality, they mean very different things:

Best before: This date indicates the period when the product is at its peak quality in terms of taste, texture, and appearance. After this date, the food is still safe to eat as long as it has been stored properly.
Use by: This date is about safety. Products with a “use by” date should not be consumed after that date for health reasons.
An Example
Think of a bag of Corn Flour with a “best before” date of 1 August. If you eat it on 20 August, it’s still safe; the product doesn’t suddenly “go bad” overnight, and it’s still perfect for your next recipe.
